アルギニン

アルギニンは成人において体内合成量が十分満たされているため必須アミノ酸ではありませんが、乳幼児では体内合成量が十分でなく、不足しやすいため必須なアミノ酸です。
アルギニンは一般的に免疫機能を高めると言われています。この由来は、患者の術後の早期回復や入院期間の短縮、術後合併症の発症率低下、傷の早期回復などの報告があるためと思われます1-4)。また、アルギニンは成長ホルモン分泌の促進作用があり、アルギニン投与によるホルモン分泌能を確認するための負荷試験はこの作用を応用し行われています5)。さらに、アルギニンは体内エネルギー生産の妨げにもなる過剰なアンモニアを無毒な尿素に代謝する尿素（オルニチン）回路の構成要素でもあります。その他にも狭心症や末梢血管疾患、間質性膀胱炎疾病に対し症状緩和など有用性が示唆されています6-10)。
